The Fall of Civil – ization

One common denominator that fell ever so blatantly across my eyes during my mental travelling  through the ancient world of politics and religion was the term ‘civilized’. From the discriminant bath-houses in Rome, filled with vomit, human secretion and forbidden sexual practices, to the impailied heads that littered the hillsides of Vlad Tepes’ castle, I see more desecration and human tragedy than I do the beauty so publicly defined in history books and art museums….  One can visibly conceptualize the unmanagable affairs that led to chastity, betrayal and untimely murder. Cleopatra’s reign, ultimately as sole Pharoe of Egypt brings to mind and thoroughly illustrates some of these indiscretions; a hierarchal kinship with her siblings, conspiratorial mastery of  assassination and at the chance of sounding beligerent….who in Egypt or Rome hadn’t she opened her robes to?

But before we run our anchors dangerously close to the shoreline, I will  admonish in brief some of the other highly noted gender-benders or ‘civilized’  ruling parties…Alexander III or simply, (Great)  of  Macedonia  had conquered a third of the known world, married twice; bearing two sons and  was most single-handedly responsible for the ‘Hellenistic Period’ which under his watchful eye, united several kingdoms in Asia…… This highly regarded master of war also is still the subject of a theoretical, yet seemingly obvious  homosexual affair with his greatest general and confidant, ‘Hephaestion’ who’s death began the descent of Alexander into frailty.. I am not opposed to the idea of sexual preference, though the thought had occured to me that Alexander  hid this affair up until his death and completely from his wives….

Now, I will abandon history in this piece and explain how civility has encountered it’s fair share of problematic setbacks with the sexes and the  defient role that has taken it’s place at the throne.  Neither sexuality, beastiality, Sado-Masochism nor fetishism has any particularly truly dominant measure of blame for the poignant indecency that exists between relations  still. It is my belief that the term ‘Civility’ hopes to capture the acclaim and recognition for it’s noteriety and grace in the periods of mankind’s evolution that deem themselves irreproachable and without contempt or blasphemy. It is true that from the primitive  states, through the development and decadent ovulation of more modernly self-described  sophisticated era’s, civility is simply a mask of infallible  indifference…To reclaim it’s true essence, civility must be practiced and adored with respect to it’s nature and intent. As men and women are the integral centerpieces of our perennial existence, we are the keeper’s of the coveted ‘Gift of Life’ and must begin to act with compelling conviction and  impregnable balance.  The Dawn of Love and Joy seeks to offer us it’s placid springs and lively gardens; embrace it’s fruit for it’s nectar and indulge from it’s wells and  we will live again…….collectively….

Love that statement! Societal norms have overshadowed civility – people are free, or pre-programmed, to experience their own sexuality and individuality, but we need to return to basics and return values, sensitivity and respect to those “norms.”

    like it, babe!

  2. Someone that understands and doesn’t feel the need to rationalize! Excellent! The fact that, as a society we have gotten away from our true selves and what is left is only remnants of beliefs and values that no longer stand important in the face of civilization itself…
